Warrior Poetry: Taking Back What’s Mine

All of the horror
Burned into the backs of my eyelids
Reluctantly closing my eyes
I hear the cries
I see the loss of lives and…
Every time my fucking heart dies
This will not end
It is a part of me
It has imprisoned me
But I will break the chains of this misery
I can still feel the pain
But this pain will no longer define me
I set myself free
Free to enjoy my life
To love everything, even the simplest sights
And although this pain still bothers me
It just serves to prove to me, that I am in fact a human being
It will no longer destroy what is inside of me

It is an awesome privilege to journey with you as you share your pain and your fighting spirit as you work through it! Thanks for sharing your heart, man!
