GI Jobs magazine helps troops leaving active duty find employment. They’re good people with a good cause and know how to get Soldier’s attention – with MMA. So they placed Kris McCray on the cover and wrote a feature on some of the more prominent fighters Ranger Up sponsors.
Ranger Up started sponsoring MMA fighters in 2006, but only the ones with military service under their belts. Since then we’ve sponsored over 40 guys and still maintain a steadfast policy that only veterans and active duty get our money. Check it out.

That’s pretty sweet.
But what keeps bugging me is that the phrase “Former Marine” keeps showing up in there.
The only “Former Marine” I caught was in reference to Brian Stann and Brian Vanhoven. They both left the Corps, so it’s correct. They referred to Tim Kennedy as a National Guardsman from 2003-2008, which is incorrect. He was active duty during those years.
I’m pretty sure if you asked anyone that’s a Marine if there’s such a figment as a Former Marine, they’d answer that there is not such thing.
Ah. Gotcha.
So how does one join the team or represent their branch of service/state ect..??
I’m a Veterans Employment Representative, and we get the GI Jobs magazine on a monthly basis. This is how I learned about Ranger Up… best money I never spent!
You guys are doing a great job!!
I thought it was proper to say Former Marines, as opposed to Ex-Marine…?
