if you look at the past three days at crossfit.com main page you will find that yes, we do circuit style training.

and max effort lifts, there is also a video demo from crosfit new zealand.

and yes, we also do long duration runs. check out espn2 this wednesday through sunday. the first event was a 200 meter open water swim, followed by a 1 mile run, 100 pull ups,100 squats, 100 push ups, and finish with a 1 mile run.

it is more than a workout, it is a community build by the gym. not all crossfit gyms are the same. each is unique. we band together to help everyone reach their fitness goals. we have socials, competitions, fundraisers, etc.

i am military (army). this has help my pt score and i don't focus on the push up, sit up, and 2 mile run. I may not be a Ranger, and I don't claim to be a top crossfitter.

but this program works because it keeps me in check and accountable of every rep, round, weight, range of movement, and technique.

there is no "ceiling," to this program. I can always be better, go faster, go heavier, etc.

bottom line, crossfit is more than circuit training. i said the dame thing to my former emoployer at a typical globo-gym.

Many do think it’s “the” answer. It is a very good solution for those bored by the same ole BS and only isolation movements that dont really exist outside of the gym.
And we for damn sure constantly vary the metabolic conditioning doing everything from 3 minute all out efforts like “Fran” or 10 by 100 meter sprints with a equal work to rest ratio or a mixed modalities.

Good post on CrossFit.

Many do think it's "the" answer. It is a very good solution for those bored by the same ole BS and only isolation movements that dont really exist outside of the gym.

Many of my folks love it because theyre either MIL/LEO or college athletes. We do a lot of old school strength elements and linear strength progressions..We routinely do max effort days and the heavy 5 x 3's and 5 x 3's along with supplemental exercises.

And we for damn sure constantly vary the metabolic conditioning doing everything from 3 minute all out efforts like "Fran" or 10 by 100 meter sprints with a equal work to rest ratio or a mixed modalities deadlifts, handstand pushups, pullups, push press etc.
