Bob and Nancy Strait Update

Updated: April 27, 2012

About an hour ago, I spoke with one of Bob and Nancy Strait’s daughters.  I will not post her name for her own protection and privacy.

She expressed her thanks on behalf of the Strait family to the Ranger Up and the 101st Airborne communities for all of your efforts.  She and her family are genuinely moved by what all of you have done for her dad and mom.  Until you started bringing attention to the issue, she said the case was largely ignored by the local police department and political establishment.

Even after this increased attention, however, she believes that the police and city are paying lip service to the family – waiting for the attention to blow over so they can brush it under the carpet once again, while at the same time they have a federal FBI task force investigating a shooting incident that also occurred in Tulsa during the same time frame and I believe CAG and DEVGRU are working the Florida case now.

I am not a conspiracy theory guy and I don’t think there is a police force on the planet that wouldn’t want to catch the people involved in this atrocity.  I have full confidence that the men and women of the Tulsa police department want to find these evil men.

I do question, as the family does, whether they have the resources and support that they need from the Mayor’s office and town leadership.  While we are researching this in earnest before embracing this belief, peripherally, Mayor Dewey F. Bartlett, Jr. does not seem very interested in responding to questions about the violent attacks on Nancy and Bob Strait.  Ranger Up fans sending the mayor questions on Facebook have been ignored and blocked and emails sent to the mayor’s office have been ignored.  The only response we have from anyone in Tulsa is from the police force, which simply has said, “We’re doing the best we can.”

I’m not sure why case is being brushed aside while others have gained prominence.  Maybe the mayor’s office is concerned that this will be bad PR for Tulsa, maybe he doesn’t want to face criticism about adequate protection for the citizens of Tulsa prior to an election after he cut 142 police jobs, maybe he simply has incompetent staff running his websites, or maybe he and his staff have been watching too many television shows about veterans and they are afraid we’re gonna go all “PTSD” on them.

What is clear is that they seem to be dropping the ball and appear to be no closer to finding the people responsible for the brutal rape and murder of an 85 year old woman and the vicious beating of her D-Day veteran husband than they were a month ago.  And that is completely unacceptable.

I asked Bob’s daughter what the family wanted us to do.

She said, “We’re not looking for publicity.  That’s not what our family is about.  But without attention, I truly believe no one here is going to do anything to find these men.  We want justice for my daddy and my momma.  I’d like you to try to get this in the news.  If it gets in the news, maybe Tulsa will do something about it.”

I told her if that is what she wanted then we’re going to push until this gets solved or we die trying.  I told her we would never quit.

Thus far I’ve done half a dozen interviews with various news outlets, but none have taken the National Stage, with the exception of Cam Edwards awesome radio show on NRA News.

I can tell you honestly, this will get nowhere without you guys grabbing this torch and pushing like hell.

Please continue to pressure anyone and everyone you can in the media, and for good measure, please contact the City of Tulsa:

Mayor Dewey Bartlett: (918) 596-7411 (if no one answers there, call the next number).
The Mayor’s Action Center: (918) 596-2100
Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett E-Mail Contact Page
Mayor Dewey Bartlett
City Hall
175 East 2nd Street, Suite 690
Tulsa, OK 74103

and let them know what the veteran community expects from the Mayor.

If you know anyone in the media, in non-profit organizations that would support this family, in the police force, in the FBI – if you know anyone who can help, please engage them.  I have a feeling that this is going to be a long fight.  I think the city of Tulsa’s leadership and the national media will ignore this story until they have no choice but to deal with it.  We have to make them deal with it.  I believe it is our solemn duty.

If you have ideas for how we need to attack this, RU is all ears.  If you have an organization that wants to get involved, please do and let us know how we can support the effort.

All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.

That’s not what this community is all about.

This is a community that when the country asked “Whom shall I send?” answered proudly “Here I am. Send me.”

We need to be there for the Straits now.  Because if not us, then who?

I am going to send this to my father who is retired 101st airborne and is now the district commander for the VFW. He has a huge pool of resources. Also have you thought of nancy grace? She is a big armed forces supporter plus legal I have a feeling she would run with this story.

Bob and Nancy Strait are my Father and Mother; small people with an everyday story in most peoples’ minds I suppose…They were kind hearted people who did not deserve to be beaten, raped and murdered..No, they were not rich and famous; but they had more love, and respect for their fellow man than evidently most people in Tulsa, Oklahoma…And I am not including all those who have shown their respect and concern for what has happened..I and my family thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts…but the Mayor, some police and media don’t seem to care…they say this happens every day, so why bother….the monsters who did this need to be brought to justice…Even if my parents were pink, purple, orange black or whatever skin color other than white…they were still my parents….race is not my family’s issue here…justice, plain old justice is the issue…People, whether you are a citizen, work in the mayor’s office, or are the mayor,,work in the police department or media,,,we are not going away until ALL involved in this are put away where they belong…..has any one of you ever thought …. this could have be your parents or grandparents…I never thought in a million years that this would ever happen to someone in my family..My father is so very sad now, and says he knows that mom is waiting for him in the cemetary….my mother’s phone number is still programed in my cell phone although it has been disconnected, I still find myself calling her for a recipe…night sweats and nightmares…..my mama was such a little woman,,,I miss her so much….please don’t forget…people…please!!!!!

Thank you for your concern…..my parents were kind hearted people who did not deserve to be beated, raped and murdered…Race is not the issue here,,but justice is….Those monsters need to be brought to to justice….People,,please stand up for what is right or these terrible men will stay free to continue to do the same thing over and over…I don’t understand why everything has to be about race….I ask everyone, if these had been your parents or grandparents,,no matter what color their skin, would you not want justice…My father is so sad now, and says he knows that mom is waiting for him in the cemetary..and mom,,well the little woman that she was, I know fought her attackers……..I miss her so very much and although her phone has been disconnected, I still find myself calling to see how she’s doing and to tell daddy hey,,,,,now all I have are memories,,good ones..but night time before I try to go to sleep,,,well, that is not so easy anymore…no good dreams now,,just night sweats and nightmares…there are good people in Tulsa, Oklahoma and elsewhere, that care about what happened and to them my family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts,,,but for the rest,,,mayor, some police and some media….stand up for what is right….thank you,,,I just had to get some of these thoughts off my mind….you are a good man Nick….

Someone needs to email Bill Orielly of the Orielly factor, Hannity, and other fox news analysts like Megan Kelly and the like…. They would probably jump on this w Mr Straight being a D day vet and the failure of their community.

we need to let the media know that there is now a line in the sand on this type of activity, report it or we contact your advertisers and ask them to drop media that cannot cover horror like this.

While I am at it, I want to know what kind of hopeless idiot let this guy out on the street. Its time that liberal judges who think its cute to terrorize people with hordes of criminals are either thrown out of office of have their security removed and see how they like it.

I say send the Straits a check for $101! My wife sent our check out and I have not only reposted the story but the video Nick P made. I have left messages on Tulsa PD’s FB page as well as e-mailing the Chief of Police, Chuck Jordan. I received lip service from the FB page and I have not received a reply back from the Chief of Police (it has been a week). I have seen more interviews from people that have NOTHING to do with the Treyvon case and only seen the news reel that Mr Strait’s daughter was interviewed in. We will not forget you, Nancy. It sickens me how this double-standard can exist. I asked the Tulsa Chief if the England/Watts crime was going to be considered a “hate crime” then why wasn’t the Strains case being considered it in the same manner?

Thank you For all of the effort and continuing devotion you are showing to this cause. It allows me sleep a little better at night knowing that so many of you care about my Mom and Dad. Right now my Dad, Bob Strait, needs all of the help and support he can receive, just as this case very much needs help, and deserves to be spread as far as it possibly can. I appreciate the video you posted to YouTube – It was the most touching and heartfelt dedication not only our veterans, but to Bob and Nancy that I have seen yet. Thank you for everything! I stand behind your continuing efforts 100%!

Send a check to the Strains for $101! My wife already sent out our check. I have forwarded and posted the story as well as the video made by Nick P. I have seen nothing on a national level (I am currently overseas though) and am sure the mainstream media wont touch this story. I have posted on Tulsa PD FB page about the case as well as e-mailed the chief, Chuck Jordan. The Tulsa PD FB page was exactly that, lip service. The Chief has yet to reply to me. I can not express what sickness that this brings to me. I asked the Chief that if the England/Watts case was a “hate crime”, then why wasn’t the Strain’s case the same? You will not be forgotten, Nancy.

it’s a Damn shame that a simple shooting, here in Florida, get’s national attention, and even comments by this great nations president, and something that desirves the attention, and NEEDS it cant, and gets swept under the carpet….sad…just sad.

I hope Mr Bob Stait a speedy recovery and my condolences
We have a serious black on white crime epicdemic here in the USA.
Something needs to be done! The white race is the only race that is not protected by hate laws.

RU, I want a justice for the Strait family T-shirt. I want it to show a little about Mr. Straits service, and about the shared sacrifices of veterans and their families. You guys are probably already working this but some kinda 50/50 split for the veterans family would push me to buy one for the wife and kids.

We need a huge parade right downtown in front of the Mayor’s office. I envision all veteran bikers, supporters on foot holding signs wearing t-shirts all in support of the Straits who suffered brutal attacks. Their voices want and need to be heard and if one community can get Jackson and Sharpton here then we as community needs to get something done for this family…..come on people!

I’m not dropping this one – I wrote of this back when a British site had the story (none of US msm) and RU video is staying top story for the weekend on my site. I am not done – there WILL be justice for this family! Period.

I live in Tulsa and I have heard nothing of this since it was fresh news. Mayor Dewey Bartlett has just filed for re-election; I didn’t vote for him then and I wouldn’t vote for him now. Would you please refresh the memory of the Ranger Up Community of this forgotten crime and its lack of attention for a murdered veteran and his HH6? They deserve better.
